The National East - Old City, Philadelphia
The National at Old City (East) is the renovation of a historic site, adjacent to Elfreth’s Alley, into a mixed-use residential development. This project represents a re-birth of the site, which long held the National Products building, a restaurant supply store. The original National building was on the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places. The existing level of the historic building has been retained and revitalized to house amenity space and retail spaces. The six-story, 206,000-square foot building consists of 187 high-end apartments with a mix of studios, 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom units. The building also contains a 2-level parking garage with 60 private on-site parking spaces. The building contains an amenity roof deck space, pet spa, two-story clubhouse, 4,000 square feet of retail space and more. HWI was responsible for the MEP&FP design of the building including high- efficiency HVAC systems, emergency back-up generator, LED lighting system and low-flow plumbing fixtures.
